Evelina Dovsten is an artist based in Stockholm.

In her human endeavor to try to understand reality, Evelina Dovsten aims again and again to translate it, simplify it and understand it. There in the simplification, and in the power to convince, the scientific-, the esoteric- and the sacred aesthetics meet. She uses them all and the works become a conclusion —> a map —> & a self-portrait.

“In despair I see time slip through my fingers, and I find myself in a world where historical facts and knowledge fade away in less than a generation. Author Maria Stepanova believes that we humans create, write, and take photos to preserve the present. In a time when most of our knowledge production is devoted to measurable results and positivist point of views —-> I use my art to talk about the bodily knowledge, the knowledge that is not as easily described theoretically. I let practical and theoretical knowledge merge together, and the works visually narrate their own creation. Today, many people seem to forget how important craftsmanship still is in our society. By preserving and gathering knowledge in the material, I aim to engage our thoughts on how we preserve knowledge and how it is passed on. “ - Evelina Dovsten
